Poker is a card game in which players make bets with chips in rounds until one player has all the chips at the table and wins the round. This can be done by making the best five card poker hand or winning all the money that was put down as buy-ins at the table, called the pot. A player may also win a round before the showdown by forcing everyone else to fold with a raised bet.<\/p>\n
Each hand starts with two cards dealt to each player (also referred to as a \u201chand\u201d) and five community cards. Each player then aims to make the best five card poker hand by combining these two cards with the community cards. Each betting interval, called a \u201cround\u201d begins when a player, in turn, puts into the pot a number of chips equal to or greater than that raised by the last active player.<\/p>\n
If a player wants to stay in the pot, they must match that amount and may raise it further. If they are unwilling to do this, they must drop out of the pot and forfeit any rights they have in the original and\/or side pots.<\/p>\n
The key to poker strategy is to play a range of hands from early positions and late positions.
